Leadership and Management Qualifications


The Centre for People Development offers Leadership and Management qualifications for new entrants. These courses offer students a pathway to leadership and or management roles in the pubic and private sectors. Prohrams are contextualised to the user experience and provide an applied learning approach with real workplace projects and assessment activities. 

The Diploma of Leadership and Management is provided over 24 months (full time equivalent).

The Certificate IV program is offered over 12 months full time equivalent. Contact CPD for more information on these programs.


Requiring 12 units for the qualification, the program consists of 4core units and 8 elective units. These units are to be delivered in a range of flexible ways as best suited to individual learning needs:

This program aims to provide participants with the public sector competencies as identified in the Public Sector Management Competency Framework and the public service training package (PSP12)Successful outcomes for participants and the employer organisation by achieved by providing:
  • Flexible delivery options

  • Work based assessment
  • A skills recognition pathway to fast track qualifications

Facilitators all have experience as PS managers and the program provides clear pathways for further VET qualifications including Diploma of Government (Management).

Assessment is about applying the learning in the workplace, developing a useful portfolio of work and evidence and delivering real outcomes for the employer organisation, underpinned by quality coaching sessions with highly qualified and experienced Master Coach. Assessment is all practical and work based.

This is a nationally recognised, high quality professional development program, delivered by a highly experienced coach's and highly competent facilitators. The program is practical and learning is applied to the workplace immediately. Participants in this program will develop a work based portfolio as part of the course and assessment requirements, contributing to the employer organisation as they learn. Once completed, this course further provides participants with a comprehensive set of resources, tools and templates.
